The Great Adjustment - Recap of Thursday & Friday's Adventures

We're backtracking here a little bit, here in Glasgow on this rainy Friday morning. Will try to post two entries today - one detailing yesterday's events and (hopefully) one this evening regarding whatever lies ahead of us today.

And so we shall begin... After a weird night of sleep we awoke to some splendid tea and coffee. Luna enjoyed a cup of tea with her Auntie. The rest of us enjoyed some serious coffee.

What's up with the creepy dude in the back?

Weather was fairly decent yesterday and we were able to walk about with only a few random raindrops speckled here and there throughout the day. I have been having a wonderful time photographing the sights around the house and out the doors! Every window has a little something magical to share.

Pretty things can be seen from the smallest of windows:

We ventured out into the world but first took a few shots in front of the flat.

 :: MommaRam's New Hangout - The Yarn Cake ::

The Yarn Cake is a pretty amazing establishment. They have yarn. They have cake. It's genius. Our lovlies back home, Chris & Pam-Pam, would LOVE this place! It is an internet cafe & yarn shop all in one. MommaRam went back in the evening for a gathering - they have a little knitting club that meets every Tuesday & Thursday night so I think she'll be frequenting this joint. They have a lot of nice Scottish yarn and Mom's making me an awesome infinity scarf from Scottish wool. Bonus! In a weird turn of events, they have a regular gentleman that comes to the shop who hails from Pittsburgh, PA. Mom's from PA originally as well. It's a small world after all.

:: Outside of the Local Charity Shop ::

They have a butt-ton of cute little shops right around the corner from the flat. Yeah, I said "BUTT TON" not button. That's not a typo. I kinda have a dirty mouth. Trying to be a little more respectable for you folks but things might slip out from time to time. (You can take the girl out of New Jersey, but you can't take the New Jersey out of the girl.)

Conveniently, there is a precious little charity shop right here around the corner that raises money for animals who need veterinary care. I picked up three awesome shirts there! (Thought of my Gracie back home - the best thrift shopper I know!) Cindy purchased an adorable umbrella that is black with lime green paw prints & a commemorative wedding tea cup for Chuck & Di circa 1991. Splendid! (She also purchased another tea cup of a completely different nature later in the day. Maybe we'll share a photo of that with you later. You think I'm dirty?! Wait until you get a gander at this!) Sidebar: I just read that to Cindy and she corrects me, saying, "No, Jenna. I purchased a "traditional Scottish tea cup" depicting the best END of Scotland." Ha, Ha. Best end indeed.

Let's just rock this out right now... shall we?

 :: Bottom's Up! ::

Super classy, Cindy! (That's why I love her so!)

We then undertook the depressing task of exchanging money. Sweet pickles. It was sad. We were so depressed we had to eat. So we walked around the corner and found the most lovely little place...

:: Do we see a pattern here? ::

Fantastic little place - awesome coffee & panini sandwiches. Will definitely be taking the rest of our friends here when they arrive!

Next up on the agenda - the double decker bus tour! Another highly recommended event. This was a blast! You get a wonderful tour of the city. We sat on the top, of course, and got several good city shots.

And then back to the flat for a much needed little rest! This one came out a little dark, but it is of our upper living chamber - the "main floor" is actually on the top of the flat - on the fourth floor! (And why do they call it a "flat" when it's not freaking flat???)

Cuddle time... and a spot of tea!

Time for one more photo prior to MommaRam's departure to The Yarn Cake:

For the duration of the evening Cindy & I worked on yesterday's blog entry whilst enjoying our wine and cheese. We listened to music and talked and laughed. It was splendid. Every evening is our reflection time where we review that day's happenings. Hopefully tonight's will run shorter - we were up so late last night that it gave us a late start this morning! Cindy is a pro at the travel adjustment - me, Luna & Mom... not so much. But we're trying. Everyday should get a little better.

On to Friday, June 15th. (We ended up giving you a double creature feature instead. Meant to post this morning but again... didn't happen. So you are getting two for the price of one.)

Cindy was up easy breezy, on the computer and made breakfast first thing. The rest of us... not...so...much. It was a hardcore rainy morning... perfect weather for staying cozy under the blankets in my opinion. So we had a very slow start to the day. (Complete with a nap - Luna and I crashed around 11am or so and took a super nap until it was time to venture out again!)

Thankfully the hard rain stopped by the time we got ourselves back outdoors. We headed back to the double decker bus to check out the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum.

They had some pretty decent things here, like latte's, flying squirrels, and floating heads!

:: Flying Scottish Squirrel? Or Muskrat? The real question - where do I GET one? ::

:: Holy Fooking Shite - We're Hanging from the Ceiling!!! ::

(It doesn't count, officially, as swearing if it's in a different language.) Okay, I know, we all speak "English"... but... DO WE? It sure SOUNDS like another language over here half the time!

And from Cindy's collection:

 :: got head? ::

:: That's a good point, Cindy! ::

:: MommaRam's Tai Chi ::

Some other notable exhibits include...

:: Wow. Boxing Rabbits. (Reminds Cindy of her lovely cats, Benny & Sadie.) ::

 :: There's a Giant Ice Age Deer! ::

:: They ACTUALLY displayed a wild haggis, passing it off as an animal. We shite you not. ::

:: Seriously. ::

:: Nice Organ! ::

:: Zoe McFluffNStuff in a stare down a Scottish beaver. We're still unsure who won. ::

We started getting a little punchy by the end here. In retrospect, we realize how utterly ridiculous this museum actually is. It's hilarious. What the hell did we get into? Well, as Cindy pointed out, "At least the price was right." (FREE!)

Overall review, it's a decent museum but we're not going to bring our friends here when they join us. Most of the museums are free here (small donations only) but there just wasn't enough Scottish exhibits to make it worthwhile for a short trip. Although there is something to be said for floating heads, flying mystery meat, huge organs, and a damn good latte in the museum cafe.

Back outside... waiting for the bus again!

:: Who's the cutest girl in Scotland? ::

:: and... scene. ::

We had the very best intentions of heading to the Visitor's Center downtown, however, we were afraid we were going to miss the last bus so we stayed put and headed back home.

:: Luna & Jenna on the bus ::

Last item of the day - we went to the glorious marketplace in walking distance from the flat to pick up some more wine & nibbles. Another day down!

Signing off a little earlier, but still light out (10:50pm!)

Cindy & Jenna
